ABC and former managing director Michelle Guthrie settle adverse action case
The board sacked Ms Guthrie in September and days later Mr Milne was forced to resigned due to allegations of political interference.
Ms Guthrie’s tenure with the ABC was terminated on September 24, but details of an 11 page dossier of allegations against Mr Milne, including alleged political pressure to fire journalists, led to a spectacular implosion at the public broadcaster.
On Thursday, the government finally replaced Mr Milne when it named 2013 Australian of the Year Ita Buttrose as the new chairman. Ms Buttrose was not on the shortlist of candidates given to the government by the independent nominations panel, sparking heavy criticism of the government.
Ms Buttrose’s first task will be to find a new managing director. Acting managing director David Anderson is considered the lead candidate to take over the role on a permanent basis.
